What is a Bound Reference?
VCE Mathematical Methods students are permitted to take a written resource called a bound reference into their technology active SACs and examinations. The resource can contain any material that may be of assistance during the assessment. It is recommended that the bound reference used contains course notes, worked examples of exam style questions, common challenging exam-style question and calculator shortcuts. Students are also allowed to bind multiple resources together into their bound reference including:

- Textbooks
- Exercise books
- School notes
- Notes from tutors
- Practice exams

As long as the bound reference is a book A4 size or smaller when closed which is permanently bound by a single spine, the bound reference should be valid to use in the VCAA examination. Take note that pages must not be easily detachable or designed to be removed.

Always check with teachers or tutors whether your bound reference complies with VCAA specifications.
